 Program
features lesser-known Mississippi River event
From staff reports November 09, 2004
“Back on the Mississippi: Hidden Trails, Offbeat Tales,” will air
at 8 p.m. today on NETV2, channel 17.
Charles “Chuck” Strinz, who attended the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln and wrote for the Daily Nebraskan, created the
program.
In “Back on the Mississippi,” Strinz retraces the path of the
Grand Excursion of 1854, a historic but largely unheard of event
that celebrated the country’s first railroad connection to the
Mississippi River.
